Silk Press - Wash, Treatment, Deep Condition, Blow Dry, Press, Optional Trim(no extra cost) (3 Hours)
A silk press straightens the natural texture of your hair without any chemical treatments. The technique and products used in just flat ironing hair compared to a silk press is different. Simply flat ironing you hair will not leave you with long lasting results like a silk press will.
A silk press can last up to 4 weeks with good maintenance, avoidance of steam and water.
Examples of good maintenance:
- Double shower cap when entering spaces with water.
- Avoiding places with steam and humidity or covering up your hair when entering those spaces.
- Wrapping your hair before sleeping.
Your hair does not have to be washed before coming, but please ensure it is COMPLETELY DETANGLED. Heavily detangled/matted hair will be turned away with NO REFUND.
Standard Treatment - Olaplex No.3 for smoothing hair bonds.
DELUXE Treatment - K18 Bond Repair for repairing hair bonds from the inside.
For the best results please ensure to have a consistent deep conditioning routine from a month before the appointment.
Heat Damage - Heat damage occurs when the hair has not received enough moisture and therefore the hair bonds straighten and damage the natural curls. If damage is noticed in your hair, the flat iron will not be set to the normal silk press temperature, so the appointment may result as a 'fluffy silk press' rather than a standard one. This may be overturned by the client expressly stating that they want a standard silk press.
Excessive damage i.e. split ends, may cause the silk press not to look as silky. This can be rectified through a trim/cut of the damage.
What causes heat damage:
- Using heat regularly.
- Using little to no heat protectant when using heat.
- Not deep conditioning your hair regularly.
- Previous damage such as split ends.
- Weak hair strands from certain 'protective' styles.
- Using oil on your hair only.
- Not upkeeping with protein or similar treatments.
